my project at work- specsavers

With specsavers were i work, we was nominated for a specsavers award 2010 and i thought this will be a great opportunity to take some great photos of the night and pratice some of the skills that i larnt during my days at my course. Including that i be doing some photos for my work colleges and selling them on a cd for them. My director approuch saying she needed a photo of all of us with the award and would like to adventise this through the public media and viewing through the store. As i agreed to do this she gave me full control of sorting it all out and let me have my name on them to advertise myself as a photoghapher within the company. this was a great way to having my first step in being a professional photogether and will be explaning how i have produced my 3 projects with the image below.

Now as you can see, yes i was in this picture but i wanted to be part of the winning team so i set the camrea first with the settings of ISO 400, shutter speed 1/160 and f stop of 5.4 then prositioned it in the area i wanted to take it. i ask all my team to gather in that area then when there all in. i check to see if there all in and the focus was right. as i didint have a tripod, i ask some to hold it in the prosition i put it then put it on  atimer just in time for me to get in then i ask everyone to cheer as i wanted to get that celebration feel to the image. it taken 3 shots and this one was the best out of them all. now the editing was only a small twig with the contrast to darken the background and then it was perfect for me.

Project 1-poster

with the poster i used a company called hfe which makes boaders and posters for any needs of bussines and promontions website is:www.hfe-signs.co.uk
which were great as i explained what i wanted on the poster and what the manager wanted on it. i wanted the image to be bright and more notiable so i ask for the boarder to be black with the measurements to fit in the promontional boards at work 42in x 55 in portrat size . they email me back a preview and as you can see it was great and ask them to order straight away.

and as you can see it was fantasic, in view of thousends of people to promont the companys effert and my photoghaphy and it did catch peoples eye when they walk past. you can see everyone on the image clearly and i was worried it will come out to pixually but it was still sharp and clear so overall a great success to this first project.

Project 2- plact for meet and greet

with the next one it was quite easy as i wanted to make it as the same to the poster. i used a a4 size frame with a silver frame as it was great with the image and the black boarder. it give it a glamor look and brakes away from the other placts including it bring it out for people to see. the photo is crop to 5 x 8 enough to give the border to brake it up and bigger enough for people to see.

project 3-media

the last one was the media which we used burton mail has specsavers is well known in there and burton mail is the local and well read paper in the area. with this one i rang company called target which i email them the image and ask for my name to be put with it as it boost me out to the public which i was so proud when i shore it. this is a scanned image of the paper it was in.

at the end i was very pleased of my work and now i can used this to build my portofoilo for the future for people to see and this is my biggest step in my photograhy carrier

lee searle

bio
Lee began photographing at the tender age of 18.  Although Lee and his team are highly in demand for his freelance work, successfully being booked to work  with major organisations, Sainsbury’s the BBC and the National Trust to name a few.
It’s his enthusiasm for shooting weddings that strikes him apart.  Recently, Lee was critically acclaimed by a leader within the field who said. “It is Lee’s enthusiasm that has allowed him to pursue his own personal contemporary documentary wedding style, which is very quickly marking him as ‘one to watch”.
Taking his inspiration from many of the classic contemporaries, Lee lives to photograph weddings and sees it as a privilege and honour to be involved in such an intimate day.  He says “I simply want my pictures to tell the true story of the wedding day, no fuss, just my clients, their families and their true emotions, trust is the absolute key”.
With his characteristic variety of mood and tone so evident in his work, Lee’s wedding photographs organically combine the sensitivity and vulnerability of his subjects with his ability to bring out their often uninhibited and natural personalities. Be it a portrait for a national editorial or the capture of a spontaneous moment. Lee will ensure that your day will always be remembered.

Lee’s photographic style, coupled with his unique sense of humour, honesty and demand for perfection is growing meteorically.  A published author, seminar leader and true professional “It is in Lee’s photographical work that his personality and character emerge. His images are a triumph of what is seen over what is not. Rather, by what is said. His sought after images ultimately, reveal the warmth and humanity of someone whose work is his life-long passion…”
It is worth noting that due to his rising profile and international commitments, Lee and his team only able to accept 20 private wedding dates for his wedding calendar during 2010, with Lee’s services highly in demand.

lee photos are focus on different angles and using contrast on colour. i have notice that he combinds the mood and diamenion to get the effect of the theme that he wanted. i have chosen some of his photos that i like and will explain what things i thought work well.

with this first one i like how he has blended the colour with the sky and the sand, the contrast on the board has shown the detail of the logos and divide the photo into two.i like that he has shown the shadows as the main feature that shows the full body to the surfer, he has given a different propective to the image as the the idea was the main focus is the surfboard and not the model.

with this one i like how he captures the fire and has got different texture of colour in the flames that make you feel warm while looking at it. has has put the iso quite high to give that grainny look to make the texture of the coal look more roughness in it.

agian with the first one he wanted to capture the object and not the model, the dress has shapes and colour that captures your eye with different shadings and texture on the dress that just pull your attention to it. i love that the image is bright and with a cool mood to it, with the angle shot just finish the image quite well and cropping it just at the elbows just put you straight to the main focus of this shoot.

this one is the same as above but brought back to show more of the background theme, its metal frame help shines the light nicely which gives diffrerent tones and shading.i love that he has played with the light by using reflective materials and dark backgrounds to get what he wanted.

i love how the colour is stricking in this image how bright and vibrent it just captures your eye. he has made the image look a more cartooney look which gave that affect of fantasy style. the green bushes were blured out to get that oil painting look and the sky is more blue than normal.

this picture was a great image that i think he done as he has use the colours wonderfuly in this one. the sky was bright with the blue as i think he enhance it again to be more vibrient and her dress is a bright red which great to divide the image with the model and the background. he has angle the shot under her to make it look that she is quite high up and the rock she on has a great detail of realness to it.

he has captured the the expressions of the model very well were she looks sweet and enercent with every shot but he never make the model just the main focus but the whole image has something to attract you to. i loved that he has framed images behind her that you can see of the ocean, it just you that mood and theme of the shoot. the objects in the image help give that 3 dimentional look and gave depth the image. he has use alot of ideas and intrest in this image to get what he wanted.

this was good how he uses the shapes and curves of the street in this image, it was the background that attracted me more of how it rolls round and the detail of the concrete floor and walls that you can see the all the grain in there. again in this image the model is not the main feature but the whole thing is, with my image this what i wanted to acheive in some of my images is to play with the colours and background to make your eyes wonder at the whole image and make you look twice in what in front of you.

in this one i love the effect with the tiles that make that illustion of that the model is coming out of the image. he has angled the the shoot to give this effect again but using the same colour and lighting to her side gave that look of dimention to it including i love how he made her look up at him so it looks like she is small and she looking up to us.

with all with lee image they have amazed me that using colour and getting to use the background to your advantage does give that effect im looking for in my images incuding again i love capturing the colour, the shadows and shades to give that look of real life image into and peace of art . making the colour more vibreint and sharpe including angling the shot to give the depth and diamesion. i want people to get lost in my images and get people to look twice on what is going on including getting people to catch things that they didnt see when they first look at my images.

funfairs at night (controling light in dark areas)

In these photos i wanted to experiment on the shutter speed and light around me the iso has stayed the same. with the images i like to work on, i like to use the lights around me without drowning it out with a flash so finding out which is best setting on the speed of the shutter will be my project in these images. this is swadlincote lights 2010 and the weather is very cold.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
with health and safety i be wearing my hicking boots so i dont slip as when i using my camrea i wont be seeing where my feet is. i made sure my camrea secured to me so if i get knocked over by a anyone i wont drop it.

first i wanted to st the ISO so i set it to hi 1 as i wont be using my flash and my f stop on 5.6 the widest to capture all the light in the area. i be labeling the shutter speeds on the images that i done and some of them explaining why i tuck that image.

with the first coulpe of images i wanted to see what affect it will give when the ride is bright and its moving. with the lights are very bright on this ride i have notice 1/20 is a slower shutter so that more light goes in making the image more brighter and blury. then as you can see when i speed the shutter up it begin the be sharper and less brighter on the ride.

now with the ghost train ride there is a lot of smoke which looks impressive and the lomimus green light give it a purfect effect of the scary gloomy ride i wanted to capture this so again with the shutter speed i have notice slower the speed more chance of capturing the fog which is very fantasic mood and effect thats help in this image.

next one is the fun house, now with the fun house i wanted to make it bright and more colourful to give it that effect of eye catching fun. a fun looking for younger eyes to see and gaze on,the shapes and colours is very detail and i didnt want to lose it by bluring the image up and losing the patterns and shape in there. so having a very steady hand is needed to get what i wanted and capturing at the right time as the lights change is important too.

now this one i wanted to experimaent on effects of flying lights ! its allways amazed me on the beuity how they done it so i tried it out my self with using this ride. i prosition myself on a fence as i havnt got a tripod to steady myself then i adjusted the camera that you can see the ride so it centerd. when i was happy i waited till the ride started up then i click and i tried different ones to see the effect and it was a success i was amazed how wonderful it came out and i tried different speed to see the effect it done.

next ones i wanted to see if i could make the rides more clearer and sharper by lowering the ISO to 100 but without making it to dark, now i tried this in a night club eviroment and notice it was not great as the image was to dark. with these ones, the rides was brighter and every part was lighten up with leds all over,so i knew that this could still work if i prosition myself in the right place. i wanted to capture the shde and shadows too which gave alot of detail and texture im the image that work wonders for me and it was alot sharper on the images.

the lasts ones, i combinding what i have learnt and seen what work best to get the effect i wanted of the funfair. with controling the light around me was a task that i thought it was difficult to do but have now manage to find the right combernation to couter the problems of blurring and grainy in the images. i love capturing abient light in my images and acheiving this is what i wanted in my photography.

at the end of my photo session with the funfair i really enjoy capturing the fun, the colours from the lights and the mood of being there is what i wanted. i feel that my main skill in photography is using the lights around me and i be using this method on my final images.
