da glacia

Da Glaica, fantastic circus performers that just take your breath away. i was at my work Christmas due in Nottingham which was a great night and i taken over 800 photos for them. out through the night i have captured some great shots from the performers that was so eye catching with there costumes and the lights, it was a great chance to capture this. i have selected the best 10 to show what i done and explain how i captured them in there amazing show there was giving to us.

Equipment: i used the same equipment as i been with from the start but manage to find better settings for low light areas. i used a D3000 nikon camrea with a 18-55mm lens and to steady my shot i just balanced the camrea on the side of a pillar in the event.

Health and Safety: with taking these photos i had to stay well clear of the preformers but not to far so i can get a good shot. so the stage was higher plateform, i prosition myself on the lower part so that im safe away form the main stage but very close to take the shots.

my main arm: to take photos with all colour and expressions of the proformers while not getting the shot blured from all the movement.

it was amazing on how they preformed with the smoke and lights. the lighting gave the right mood and gave that feel of fire in there. the lighting re flexed on the performers to give there shading and shape on there white cloths, the beam of light was my favorite in this image as there was lot crossing each other that the smoke captured nicely to give that effect. i wanted to capture every movement and pose in my images, so that i capture that special look they give with expressions and the moving essence in there that they wanted to show. with all the images i didnt use my flash but the lights that was given me so that you see all the colour and smake within the images, if i did use my flash it would drown out the colour and would not get that effect that you see now. with my ISO i wanted it not to be grainy so i put the ISO to 800 which cleared the image much better than on HI 1 as it did look very grainy. i tried to push it down to 400 but it started to look too dark and you couldnt see any detail within the image. The f stop is on the widest so the it can capture all the ambient like and shutter speed is on 1/30 so that it can capyure the smaoke within the background. with the photos below i was stuned on how wonderful the texture and colour that it came out to be and able to put down the ISO to make it less grainy like my last photos i tried to take in the past.

it was a great sucess and i managed to capture what i wanted in all of these images and now i feel that i am now on the road to what i wanted to acheive in low light photography and reportage photography.

  2. Hi
I would say that these images are very professionally taken and as a set in my opinion should appear as one of your final themes. This is because your work has evolved and the balance between technical and creative is just right.
    Well done!!
